Typically the bathroom is a woman’s domain, but in the absence of a ‘lady of the house’ a more masculine bathroom design may be called for…. Or perhaps you’re designing a new-age home with his and her bathrooms? Fabulous for avoiding the who left the toilet seat up issue… To help you with the bathroom for HIM design… we’ve put together a collection of stunning bathrooms that all have a distinct masculine feel.

This project by Melbourne custom builder Michael Higgins Building Design was for a Geelong surveying and planning practice that needed a dedicated, purpose-built facility for its expanding business. The lower level has a forecourt where clients can park their vehicles. Staff vehicles are packed in an underground garage, which also have storage space. Central stairs lead to the office area above. This area houses the main offices, reception area, boardroom, meeting rooms and staff facilitates.

Rugs are no longer just to soften hard surfaces, there is now an extensive selection of stunning designer rugs (both off the shelf and custom made) that can totally transform the look of a room – appearing more like a piece of art than a piece of carpet.

Melbourne architect Darren Overend was briefed to design a home, drawing reference to the famous American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The client’s son had studied Wright’s work and introduced his parents to his architectural style. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie homes are distinguished by horizontal planes emphasized on the exterior by a low-pitched hipped roof, long bands of windows and wide overhanging eaves.
